can i refuse nbn
The NBN new connection fee (i.e., having missed the transition period where it's free) is only $300. You may wish to remain with your current provider or choose a new one. Those considering $600 technology choice program applications and being given up to $50,000 quotes for FTTP would gladly swap with you! You will be fine. Though, expect the $300 New Development, if you are … If they don’t provide one, you should make sure their NBN voice services will be supported before purchasing one. This is the exact same logo as the box has. For that you win the internets today. What kind those wires are, I am not able to determine that myself. With FTTN you still have to get a phone line installed. :P :). Thanks to all the good people who gave good answers. EDIT – Crap... My landlord will NOT be happy with me if I put THAT in the kitchen.
I currently have NBN FTTN at my rental property and for the most part, it is great. This is now possible due to a move from the cumbersome consent system to automatic installation, enabled under the Telecommunications Act. NBN Co will let you know your region’s ‘ready for service’ date by direct mail. Though I am not sure why it was placed inside the garage where the electricity company cannot access without the doors being open. Some telecommunications service providers do not charge activation or set-up fees for a service on the NBN if you enter into a contract for a certain amount of time with them. It’s time to stop assuming that the NBN is a long way off and will have little or no affect on you until it arrives in your area. The majority of existing landline and internet services will be disconnected in the future. Means drilling holes in walls. But some can be slow, congested or maybe haven't even been installed yet. Despite the benefits of such simple devices, which basically cut down the use of power when your televisions are in standby mode, this was an intrusion and if I’m honest, the installers were quite pushy. It would be a permanent facility, usually the tenant's responsibility unless negotiate otherwise (sadly), why would your landlord not be pleased?
I was totally gutted to find out that the house, whilst it has access to NBN, sadly it is. You may face additional fees from your telecommunications service provider when moving to the NBN.
Only because we had been having a discussion in our office did I know of the existence of this scheme and was able to ask the right questions. It does not matter to them if I pay 100% of all costs, as I am still making alterations to THEIR property. The question and the entire point of this thread is whether a landlord is likely to refuse a physical NBN installation request. especially if comms wasnt a part of the rental agreement. Yes. I’m not sure the majority of householders, old or young, will understand fully what they are being given. So, as individuals we need to take ownership of the need to be informed.
The price of your NBN service will depend upon the speed of your NBN service and the amount of your monthly data allowance. The landlord cannot refuse NBN access to a renter. The request for NBN installation permission was on Friday. Some homes and businesses get their internet and phone services from companies using networks that compete with the NBN. As the rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN) continues, homeowners no longer have to consent to the Government-owned NBN Co entering their property to install the fibre-optic connections. I was successful and quite happy, until I learned the type of NBN the property has access to. If you want a different technology to the one supplied in your area, you need to go through the technology change program. NBN Co will contact you when your area is ready for service. NBNCo will fall off their chairs laughing for a FTTN request in a FTTP area. Have you asked and have they refused because they can't refuse a reasonable request. I reckon the spot for the NBN NTD is already planned as part of the build, and possibly has the phone line running to that location, next to a power point. You are unlikely to have a choice on the external box depending on the install difficulty. Landlord won't refuse to have it installed but they might push the $300 new development charge onto you. It is in the landlords interest to get the FttP installed as that will boost the value of the rental and the propertys worth. Telstra would have ceased selling PSTN in your area.
The chances of you having a copper lead in wouldn't be too good either if this house is 'brand new' in a FTTP area. Keep informed: read information about when the NBN is coming to your area and check rollout updates on the NBN Co website. A modem and router will often be combined into the same device. It will need to happen in some manner at some time.
I was totally gutted to find out that the house, whilst it has access to NBN, sadly it is FTTP and NOT FTTN. With FTTN, I DON'T need permission and NOTHING is installed on the premises. I think its the convenience of not having to deal with anything with FttN at it uses an existing phone line wallplate, is attractive over the potential of hassle installing FttP lead in and NTD.
