In any version of 6K, 5.9K, 5.4K and 4K, whether its full-frame, super-35, 4:3, 16:9, 17:9 or any compression, the image becomes very jelly-like with any semi quick movement side to side. At this level, though, processing power is the limiting factory, so with 6K or 5.9K capture you’re restricted to the cropped Super 35mm format. Only the Sony A7 III does better, but just at its base ISO. If you are doing any color grading, keying or other visual effects work this something really, really important to you. The locations of the buttons on the camera are pretty standard, as someone who hasn’t used a Panasonic stills camera for a couple of years, this felt very intuitive and familiar. It has a base ISO 640 Low ISO circuit for the lower end of the ISO range, and a base ISO 4000 High ISO/low noise circuit for better image quality at high ISO settings. Personally I really like that — SD cards are very cheap, super easy to find and I have tons laying around from other cameras. It’s not until you start going into higher ISOs that noise even becomes a problem. Stills dynamic range from the S1H is superb right through the sensitivity range. In my experience with the camera, I had a lot fewer of those little micro shakes that have become commonplace with DSLR/Mirror shooting without a rig. Another useful addition that isn’t available on other mirrorless cameras is tally lights. The higher the score at a given ISO sensitivity, the better. In use, though, you’ll barely even know it’s there and it’s nowhere near loud enough to cause problems.
