scots college grandparents day 2020

A warm welcome back to the College to all students as we return after many weeks away. All evidence of student achievement levels could be used for predicted or derived grades under NCEA and IB.

Tuesday 21 July – Friday 25 September (3.30pm), Monday 12 October – Tuesday 8 December (12.30pm), Thursday 28 January – Thursday 1 April (12.30pm), Tuesday 20 July – Friday 24 September (3.30pm), Monday 20 July – Staff Professional Learning Day. Yet again Scots students have done incredibly well in the first round of the Eureka Science and Technology competition. There will still be much uncertainty and the College will keep everyone well informed of any changes to events and routines. Putting the health and safety of the students and our community first is our priority and an event such as this is not possible during the current Level 2 Government requirements. This is a major Eureka! Please include your full name and email address, as we will send communication for the event to the person completing this form, which you can easily distribute to each Grandparent/friend. We have been delighted that students have adapted quickly to the Distance Learning Plan (DLP) and embraced this new way of learning in what has been a very strange time for the entire world.

A huge thank you to those that tuned into Monday Matt Time each week and also to those students who participated in the Middle School Challenge.

It is with regret we will not be able to hold our annual Middle and Senior School Grandparents’ Day alongside Queen’s Birthday next weekend. In the event that Grandparents are visiting multiple children, please enter all children's names, year levels and classes in the appropriate entry fields. For ELC term dates please contact the ELC Office.

Applications are open to both female and male students.

Scots College is a Presbyterian day and boarding school comprised of three schools in one College; Preparatory School (Years 1-6), Middle School (Years 7-10) and Senior School (Years 11-13). A great achievement by both of these students.

Cullen and Rohit will also participate in this year’s Governor-General’s Eureka! event which aims to give young people a voice on a really important area of public policy and research. It certainly is nice to see boys back in the classroom however. Both students will prepare a 12 minute presentation which they will deliver at the National Finals on the 3rd of September. The other major uncertainty will be around exams, both school and finals.

Young Science Leaders Forum to discuss the challenges we all face in terms of technology change and the future of work. Prepare thoroughly for all assessments whether they be class tests, assignment or school exams. These are all wonderful events and it will be disappointing but understandable if we need to cancel them.

We hope you all enjoyed the morning as much as the students did! As New Zealand has moved to a new alert level it is important we are all very cognisant of what impact that will have at a very busy and important time of the year. There will still be much uncertainty and the College will keep everyone well informed of any changes to events and routines. Now more than ever we need to remain vigilant and prepared.
