We both work full time so out of hours care (inc holiday clubs) is important but we also want to feel part of the school community as much as possible.We are also aware of the very limited options in Cambridge for independent secondaries for boys - either a tough assessment for a place at the Perse or he would need to get a scholarship for us to afford the Leys. Maybe they are going to recruit after Christmas or promote internally but don't sant to announce yet. We felt very uncomfortable at both schools when viewing as we didn't feel like we fit at all.

I've no direct experience of Eton but know people who have taught at other fairly major public schools and if you're worrying about the wealth/poshness of parents at the Cambridge private schools then that will be magnified 10 times over at somewhere like Eton I would imagine. That's all I know really! What is amazing is to see the students studying in the distance during the visit. For an easier commute the answer is bicycle and if you consider Trumpington I think it might be just about manageable.

It is the smallest of the big fish prep schools in Cambridge and very much has a family feel, with an increasing amount of inter-parental and pta occasions giving it an even greater feel of family.
